Solicitor

Leo graduated from King's College London with a first class degree in Music. Having completed a Masters degree in Composition at the same university, Leo converted to law, and was awarded his Graduate Diploma in Law from BPP Law School in 2006. Leo trained at Carter-Ruck, and qualified in 2009.

Leo has considerable experience in all areas of media litigation, including defamation, privacy, and intellectual property, and has acted for a wide range of clients including celebrities, models, politicians, musicians, doctors and businessmen.

Leo has acted in a number of successful actions against tabloid newspapers. In 2008, for example, Leo acted for Charley Uchea, the reality television celebrity and model who appeared in Big Brother in 2007, in her libel action against the Daily Star. The newspaper accepted that the allegations complained of were completely untrue, and paid Ms Uchea substantial damages and her legal costs. More recently, Leo acted for Andrew Pelling MP in his libel and privacy claim against The Mail On Sunday, which had published false allegations about the MP's first marriage. As part of the settlement, the newspaper agreed to publish an apology, and pay Mr Pelling substantial damages and costs.

Currently, Leo is assisting Hanna Basha in proceedings brought against the Sunday Mirror by Matthew Peacock, model and former husband to Jodie Marsh.

Leo also has valuable experience in advising defendants in libel actions. Currently Leo is assisting Andrew Stephenson in proceedings brought by the multi-billion dollar healthcare company GE Healthcare, against eminent professor of radiology Henrik Thomsen, in relation to GE's product Omniscan.

Leo is also active in the firm's busy commercial litigation practice, acting in particular for victims of financial miss-selling by independent financial advisors.
